Robotics Workshops at Creator in San Francisco

$55.00

TechyKids is proud to be offering robotics workshops in San Francisco at the new and incredible Creator restaurant!  As both TechyKids and Creator have missions that aim to inspire people to be “creators”!  We are excited about this partnership and encourage you to come and explore with hands on learning of robotics, collaboration and creativity.

TechyKids Workshops – Robotics, Coding & Creativity!

Workshop Experience:

5-7-year-olds: we have an activity card and passport experience.  The kids go through activity cards and earn passport stamps for each activity they successfully accomplish.  They are welcome to go at their own pace of exploration.  A video will be played that goes through some basic explanation of robotics and sensors.  On the activity cards and passport it goes through the robot’s pre-programmed modes so they learn about the different sensors on the robots and get to interact with them to accomplish things like line following, hand following, responding to sound, and the robots communicating with one another.  Also some robot interactions like one robot chasing the other.

We also have some LEGO building challenges that incorporate creativity like making a creature (so they get to see the robot as a tool for creation), and also using lego to build off of the Thymio robot to change the motion, like larger wheels for speed, and adding legos for a hopping movement.

It isn’t expected that the kids will fully complete the passport in one session, and kids are invited back to enroll and participate in multiple workshops to continue their robotics learning and exploration journey.

8-12 year olds: we will have an introduction to robotics and the preprogrammed modes and capabilities of the robot, and then get into the visual programming language.  The workshop is flexibly paced to the student’s preference and interest.  During the workshop they will either be programming for the time and doing activities, or if they prefer they can get started on a project and start building onto their ideas.  If the student returns for multiple sessions, they can be working on a project, like an interactive animal or invention along with a presentation of their work.

13-17 year olds: we will have an introduction to robotics and the preprogrammed modes and capabilities of the robot, and then get into the visual programming language. Student may also branch out into learning 3D modeling or getting straight into code languages.
